Lori Urbanczyk – Director

LoriU

Lori Urbanczyk may be one of the newest IPA directors, but she is definitely not new to the polka scene. Lori’s family has been involved in polkas for many years. Her dad, Ron, started playing polka music at a very young age. He has played with Buffalo bands such as the Polecats, Bedrock Boys, Concertina All Stars, and is currently co-bandleader and concertina player for the New Direction band. Her parents met at a polka dance when they were young and have continued to attend polka dances and festivals, taking her and her brother, Brian, along with them when they were little.

Brian followed in her dad’s footsteps and currently plays bass with The Knewz.

Lori has assisted in various facets with the New Direction’s first and latest CDs as well as designing both CD covers. Born and raised in West Seneca, NY, a suburb of Buffalo, she had taken keyboard/piano lessons for over nine years, starting at the age of five. Lori currently resides in Cheektowaga, NY and is a special education teacher for kids ages 3 -4. Lori hopes to continue to promote polka music to a broader audience and encourage the growth of the IPA organization throughout the country.

Aside from polka music, Lori’s other interests include a love of traveling, wine, and art. She visited Spain and France in 2000, as well as visited many different states, and vacationing to the Caribbean and enjoying several cruises. If you need help pairing a great wine with your favorite meal, Lori can help!

“Help support polkas in Buffalo”. Welcome Lori to the board!
